The Scrap Iron Flotilla

Given to the Royal Australian Navy by the British Admiralty during the interwar years, five outdated destroyers played a crucial role in supporting Allied operations in the Mediterranean and Pacific Theatres providing support to ground troops in North Africa, evacuations from Greece and Crete, helping keep open the vital supply lines to the besieged garrison of Tobruk and supporting operations in Singapore and New Guinea.
